Building Thermography Course

March 23-26, 2009

The Institute of Infrared Thermography is the #1 global independent provider of Infrared PdM Training and Education! We Know Buildings: The trainers at the Institute of Infrared Thermography have been involved in infrared building inspections since 1975! This experience, coupled with the new developments in applying infrared technology to materials testing and non-destructive testing, thermography is emerging as the #1 inspection tool of the entire building including energy (insulation and air leakage), construction defects and irregularities, moisture intrusion, leaky build syndrome, façade deterioration and delamination, electrical inspections, HVAC, mechanical inspections and more.

In January 2009 and March 2009, IRT will offer a series of Courses that will lead to Building Thermography Certification, Door Fan Certification, and finally the highest Level of Infrared Building Science Certification. This series is made up of three courses:

-          Level 1 Infrared Thermography (4 days)  January 13-16, 2009
-          Building Thermography (4-5 days, will explain below)  March (22) 23-26
-          Door Fan Course (1 day) March 26

Depending on your requirements you may take each or all courses.  Each course is a stand alone course, or if you wish to receive the IRT Infrared Building Certification, all courses are necessary.

Level 1 Certification Course. This 4-day course is the standard Infrared Thermography Course we teach globally. This course fits both the ASNT Standard as well as the international BINDT/ISO standard. This course is a prerequisite to attaining the Infrared Building Science Course Certification.

Building Thermography Certification Course. This 4 day course will teach several aspects of Building Thermography and building construction, necessary to perform a high level inspection on all building types.  This course includes the Door Fan Course and is a requirement for Building Thermography Certification. If the student does not wish to become certified, then the Door Fan Course is optional. However, if the student has not taken a Level 1 Course previously, then it is necessary to take a one-day infrared thermography overview session. The student will receive both Building Thermography Certification as well as Door Fan Certification.

Door Fan Operator Certification Course. This course is based on the international standards of Air Tightness Testing for Buildings. The course is held in conjunction with the major global Door Fan manufacturer. The instructor will be Mr. Colin Genge from Retrotec. The door fan course, just like all IRT courses, is equipment independent. The certification will be a dual IRT/Retrotec certification.

Infrared Building Science Certification. To receive the highest level of certification, the student will be required to take the above three courses. If the student is a previous Level 1 student (from and training company) it is not necessary to do the L1 portion again. Proof of successfully completing a Level 1 course is required, although it is not necessary to be a L1 Certified Thermographer.
