Our TeamRon Newport
Ron was the owner and Director of Academy of Infrared Thermography and was the first to deliver a Level II thermography course for Infraspection Institute in 1988. A Level III Institute of Infrared Thermographer, Ron has published numerous technical papers and articles on infrared thermography applications, co-written existing standards, and is now the Director of Institute of Infrared Thermography.
Frans Dam Frans developed thermography building ramifications for the Dutch government and is involved in many big companies as a sort of “internal consultant”. Because of his specialities of building phisics, energy, permeability of buildings, moisture measurements, thermography and ultrasound he has developed an international consultancy to coach a lot of companies after the IRT-trainings on their locations.
Fredrik Norell Fredrik enjoys assisting clients to understand and evaluate technical specifications and application requirements prior to purchasing an infrared camera. Once purchased, he will then assist to establish and develop an Infrared Condition Monitoring Program. Fredrik’s second love is as an infrared instructor, educator and course developer who provides enthusiastic instruction from the beginning to the very end of a course and beyond. He delivers training in Level I, Level II and building thermography throughout Scandinavia in Swedish and Norwegian. He also teaches courses in English throughout the world. Fredrik is elected member of the expert group in the Swedish Fire Protection Association. Here the job is to evaluate inspections of thermographers performing electrical inspections. He is also the Director of Energycompetence in Sweden Inc, an energy and thermography consultancy. www.energikompetens.se
Austin Dunne When he moved into the training arena, he studied under Ron Newport who is a recognised infrared training pioneer, and began a new journey as an Infrared training Instructor. Having completed several years as a part time trainer and five complete years training full time, Austin has gained immense experience, and provided training for hundreds of students in England, Canada, USA, Spain, Norway, Japan, Brazil, India Ireland, Netherlands and Denmark. Austin is an active member of the United Kingdom Thermography Association, and helped to establish the Irish thermography association last year, he is a member of a committee producing the new UK standards for Thermography, in association with the British Institute of Non Destructive Testing. Last year Austin completed the BINDT (PCN) Pilot examination for L2 and passed all four categories including the theoretical, electrical, mechanical and civil sections. He intends to take the L3 pilot exam that should be ready later this year.
Bernd M. Werner
During his time as managing director of Agema Infrared Systems, which became FLIR Systems he has influenced the development of the new applications and infrared cameras. Bernd was instrumental in establishing a training center for infrared physics and application training as well as being involved in German NDT Society for Thermography and organising Level 1 and Level 2 courses for Infrared Thermography certification. For many years he organised Symposia for Thermography at Technical Akademie in Esslingen. He believes strongly in education of thermographers and enjoys teaching and delivered training. For the Institue Bernd delivers his uniqe brand of Infrared Certification courses, Camera Operator courses, Application specific courses as well as courses in Basic Infrared Physics.
David Stonehouse
David sold his company and became a full time trainer with Ron Newport in his training organization. And today David continues to teach with his dynamic style for the Institute of Infrared Thermography. David has always had an interest in airplanes and flying, and believe it or not, he was a licensed pilot by 1974 at the age of 17. David decides to blend his passion for flying and thermography combined his two interests together. Remote sensing was the emergent imaging tool and was primarily research when David started. Today David is recognized as one of the foremost persons in using Remote Sensing Technologies to monitor the earth’s environment. Currently he is working on is collecting data for Homeland Security and Defense trials among other projects. David teaches a dynamic course and brings his own blend of ground and airborne applications.
Colin L. Genge
Mr. Genge has owned Retrotec Inc since 1990, a US corporation that manufactures air leakage measurement systems, super low pressure gauges and automatic pressure controllers. Mr. Genge has made major contributions to residential door-fan energy standards such as Canada’s CGSB 149 and ASTM E-779. He has been involved in whole house diagnostics as a way to create a win-win between contractor and home owner where the home gets the most cost effective energy and air quality solution and the contractor is able to differentiate himself from his competitor sufficiently to develop a profitable business. Mr. Genge has been involved in fire suppression standards such as NFPA 2001 for the containment of clean agent fire suppressants in high value enclosures since 1985. He is regarded as the world’s leading expert in the containment of gaseous fire suppressants and has had a 20 year relationship with all of the major fire suppressant manufacturers who regularly rely on his expertise, such as 3M, Tyco, Kidde, DuPont, Chemetron, Fike, Ansul, Kidde-Fenwal and Siemens. While developing fire testing procedures that are currently used in over 60 countries, innovative testing methods and hardware had to be developed. Retrotec high power fans are now the most commonly used exterior building envelope leakage measurement equipment in the UK which is the only country in the world that currently mandates the testing of all commercial buildings. Mr. Genge has done considerable research on testing methods for high rise buildings. He has also personally consulted and tested 100’s of the World’s most exotic high value facilities, including the Space Shuttle launch pad, numerous military installations and the world’s most sophisticated computer rooms. He has consulted for many major international corporations and Government entities. He has trained and supported 1000’s of testers worldwide giving him the widest possible practical experience on how rooms and buildings fail containment guidelines. He has an Instrumentation Technologist’s degree from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology. |
Used Infrared Cameras WantedIn these recessionary times companies have to optimize their finances as best they can. Because of this we here at the Institute have been getting many calls to recommend what we think is the best IR Camera to purchase for the money. In other words what is the best value? Now, we do not recommend any camera or manufacturer, if we did we would lose our independence and our “unbiased” status, and become like the other training companies out there. But, we wanted to help our students and the Infrared Community, so we have created a new service: To sell or purchase an IR camera simply send an email and let us know in details what you want to sell or purchase and we will do our best to match you up with what you are looking for. There is no fee for this; it is a courtesy of IRT. IR Cameras Wanted: Mikron 7800 series IR Camera with 320x 240 detector. |
